The English Patient last night picked up three craft awards from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts to add to its haul of nine Oscars. The film won prizes for best cinematography, best editing and the Anthony Asquith Award for achievement in film music at a Bafta ceremony at London's Hilton Hotel.

However, it failed to claim two categories in which it won Oscars last month - losing out to Richard III for best costume design and Shine for best sound. Richard III also picked up the production design award, while Twister won the category of best achievement in special visual effects. The awards recognise the talents of those who work behind the scenes in film and television.
