Four dead as train collides with bus in Mississippi

A train has collided with a charter bus at a railroad crossing in Biloxi, Mississippi, killing four people.

The CSX train was travelling east when it hit the bus. Rescuers spent more than an hour removing more than 50 passengers who were on the bus, and injuries have been reported.

A Biloxi police official is calling it a "terrible, chaotic scene," according to NBC News.

This is the second train-bus collision in the Biloxi area in as many months, according to the Sun Herald.

The previous accident also involved a CSX train, which hit a delivery truck which became stuck to the train. The driver of the truck was unharmed.

Michelle Crowley of the Biloxi fire department said 40 people were injured; of those, seven were in critical condition.

A woman who lives about a block from where the train and bus finally came to a stop after the train crashed into the bus says she heard a "loud boom" and knew immediately what had happened.

Cecelia McDonald said she ran out of her house and saw a scene of carnage.

Witnesses told the Sun Herald that the bus was stuck on the tracks for about five minutes before he saw the train hit it.
