Chiapas rebels in peace accord

CommentsMaya Indian rebels and the Mexican government agreed on a package of significant economic and political reforms aimed at ending a two-month old rebellion in the southern state of Chiapas, Reuter reports from San Cristobal. The 32-point accord, if accepted by rebel supporters in the highlands of Chiapas, will be signed as a formal peace treaty, the government-appointed peace commissioner, Manuel Camacho Solis, announced.
