The German Research Centre for Geosciences says western Germany has been hit with a mild earthquake.
The Potsdam-based centre said the magnitude 4.5 quake hit at about 1:45pm, with an epicentre just east of the city of Koblenz.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or property damage.
