SIGNIFICANT SHORTS : Elephants return
After decades of fighting that scared away elephants, the animals have started to return to Eritrea. Six elephants have been sighted since 1993, said Hagos Yohannes, head of the wildlife department at Eritrea's ministry of agriculture.
Eritrea fought a three-decade war of independence against Ethiopia until the Marxist ruler, Mengistu Haile Mariam, was ousted in 1991. The province became independent in 1993. Reuter - Asmara
