Tigers ensure poor Broncos run continues
Castleford condemned the London Broncos to a third successive home defeat at Griffin Park yesterday with a 24-12 win. The visitors took advantage of London missing 10 regulars with a clinical display after recovering from a poor start and a 8-0 deficit.
Castleford took a decisive lead with 10 minutes to go when Wayne Bartrim kicked two penalties in a minute and with three minutes remaining Michael Eagar crossed and Bartrim added his sixth successful kick.
The Huddersfield coach Tony Smith was disappointed despite a 14-10 victory at Wakefield. "It wasn't the best quality game," he said. "We were not happy with our performance."
The Wakefield coach was not pleased with Jamie Bloem's match-winning try, nor with referee Richard Silverwood. "You've got to be careful what you say," said McNally. "But the last try was from a forward pass. Whether our player touched it or not does not negate the forward pass. "
Gateshead Thunder recorded their first victory for more than a year with a 42-12 win over Workington in the Arriva Trains National League Cup.
