SUE FRASER, with two well- taken goals, set up Great Britain's 3-0 win against Italy in Rome last night in the first of two games in the city before the squad moves into the Olympic Village in Barcelona on Saturday.

After Fraser had given Britain the lead in the sixth minute the visitors dominated for long periods but failed to capitalise. Fraser put them further ahead six minutes into the second half from a penalty corner with Jane Sixsmith completing the scoring in the 50th minute. The teams meet again tomorrow.

New Zealand's men completed their three-match UK tour with a disappointing draw against Wales at Bisham Abbey yesterday. Following their 4-1 defeat and a goalless draw at the hands of an experimental England side in two lacklustre games, the Kiwis would have been looking for an improvement in their form.

As against England they opened impressively, creating a series of half chances but, baulked by brave goalkeeping from Neston's Chris Ashcroft, they had little to show for their endeavours in a dull first half.

Indeed, it was Wales, in one of their few attacks, who opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Tony Colclough created and took the opportunity presented to him by a loose tackle by Tony Thornton.

Both sides missed a number of goal scoring opportunities from play and at penalty corners before New Zealand equalised in the 48th minute, David Grundy lofting Peter Miskimmin's cross into the net.
