Racing: Punters' Guide; The Toiseach gets vote of confidence
The former top jump jockey Steve Smith Eccles analyses today's Great Yorkshire Chase
The Toiseach: I taught this fellow to jump and can confirm that he is in the form of his life after disappointing in the Hennessy Gold Cup. That race came too soon after his Ascot victory and he is ready to run for his life.
Mr Strong Gale: Always runs well and could make the frame.
Lively Knight: Having his first run of the season and goes well when fresh. Stable out of form.
The Last Fling: Stays forever but makes jumping errors.
Capenwray: I expect this trip to be beyond him.
Blue Charm: Runs well in his own class but out of his depth.
Profluent: Faller when beaten last time, so best watched.
Glitter Isle: Ran a cracker behind Eudipe at Sandown last time. A reproduction of that form will see him go close.
Frazer Island: Does not look good enough.
Chipped Out: Has won two out of four this season but against weaker opposition.
Cab On Target: Defies advancing years and is sure to put up a brave performance.
Tullymurry Toff: Needs to improve on a poor run last time.
In Truth: Well beaten in his last three runs but this Festival winner does relish Town Moor.
Naiysari: Should strip fitter for run behind Mr Strong Gale but may lack the class to figure.
Noyan: No form this season.
Major Bell: Without a win since 1996 and will have to wait a little longer.
Ask Me Later: Out of his league.
Symbol Of Success: Simply not up to it.
Carlingford Gale: Tough, consistent mare who runs well in her own class.
Jefferies: This Taunton winner could do well off a light weight.
Conclusion: THE TOISEACH has been given plenty of time to get over his flop in the Hennessy and can prove what a class horse he really is. Glitter Isle should figure on the evidence of his run behind Eudipe last time.
