Jean Van de Velde, whose triple bogey at the final hole cost him the Open last month, has changed his controversial caddie, Christophe Angiolini. His new bag carrier beginning this week at the NEC Invitational World Championship in Akron, Ohio, will be the Australian Graham Heindrich, who has worked for Nick Faldo and Greg Norman.
Kevin Costner, star of the film Tin Cup, has assembled a host of celebrities for the Monte Carlo pro-am tournament on 9-11 September. The 54-hole Zepter Invitational, featuring 44 European Seniors Tour players, will include Sylvester Stallone, Roger Moore, Robert Wagner, Richard Branson, Boris Becker, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Bolton, Alberto Tomba and Ingemar Stenmark. Costner will also play.
Colin Montgomerie, Paul Lawrie and Andrew Coltart, all members of Europe's Ryder Cup team, have all entered the Victor Chandler British Masters at Woburn on 9-12 September two weeks before the match with the Americans. Montgomerie defends the title he won at the Forest of Arden last year and Coltart plays despite the fact that his wife Emma is expecting their first child the day after the tournament.
