Yellow warnings for snow and rain in Northern England

Heavy snowfall across Northern England has led to some coronavirus vaccinations being cancelled, but the wintry weather is set to ease from today.

The recent yellow and amber warnings for snow and ice in Northern England are being reduced to warnings for rain as temperatures rise in the region.  

Yellow Met Office warnings for snow and ice remain in the most northerly parts of England, in Durham, Northumberland, and Cumbria, and continue across Scotland.  

The yellow warnings in the North of England is set to remain in place until late Thursday night.  

Tonight, the snow in Northern England is set to lessen generally, but will remain in Northumberland and Scotland.  

Temperatures remain higher in the South of England, with highs of 8 to 10 degrees celsius.  

Thursday will bring cloud and drizzle across Northern England and Northern Ireland, with snow remaining across scotland.  

Southern England will again be boasting warmer and drier temperatures with sunny spells, but not without the chance of a few showers.   

Over 200 flood warnings and alerts are in place across the country, with the effects of the recent storm Christoph and snow and rainfall causing flooding.
